Winter Orientation 2008 : Monday, December 31st to Saturday, January 12, 2008

IMPORTANT NOTE: BYUH Housing encourages all students who are planning to check into the dormitories before 8:00pm on this day, to contact the BYUH housing offices at #808.675.3534 or email them at housing@byuh.edu to schedule your arrival time so a resident assistant or the dormitory parents can welcome and accommodate your admittance.
NOTE: If you arrive before Sunday, December 30, 2007 to check into the campus dormitories you will be charged an expensive early check in fee. Please NOTE there will be no guarantees your room will be available if you decide to come before December 30, 2007.

MONDAY, December 31, 07 10:00pm- 1:00am BYUHSA New Year's Eve Dance in the Aloha Center. All University Services are CLOSED. Click here for more information
TUESDAY, January 01, 2008 ALL DAY New Years Day: all University Services will be CLOSED
WEDNESDAY, January 02, 08 9:00am-12:00am Local, mainland (New and transfer students), and International students may check into campus dormitories and your meal cards start at dinner at the Cafeteria
  8:00am-5:00pm IWES Rotations in the Aloha Center #155/165 (ONLY IWES Students)
  9:00am-2:00pm
Orientation Student “Sign In” in the Aloha Center Mall (All New Students: Freshmen, Transfer, and Returning need to sign in)

7:45am (3-4 hours ) EIL (English as a Second Language Testing) in the Testing Center
  9:00am-2:00pm Orientation Student “Sign In” in the Aloha Center Mall
  1:00pm (3-4 Hours) EIL/International Student Math Placement Testing in the Testing Center
  8:00pm-12:00am Orientation Welcome Dance will be held in the Aloha Center Ballroom

Circle Island Tour for new and returning Winter students will leave from the Cannon Activities The Tour Buses will leave promptly at 8:00am.We will visit the Pali Scenic Point, Swap Meet, Pearl Harbor, Wal-Mart, and Matsumoto Shave Ice in the old Haleiwa surfer town on the North

“Parents Forum” – Our University President will address parents of students in the Mc Kay Little Theater where members of the Presidents’ Council will then hold a Question/Answer session for parents

Introduction to the Polynesian Cultural Center(PCC) in the Mc Kay Auditorium .Polynesian Cultural Center tickets gifted to orientation students from PCC President, Dr. V. Orgill. Orientation Ohana Group Leaders will lead students on an exciting tour of the Polynesian Cultural Center

  4:30pm-8:00pm BYUH President’s Orientation Welcome Luau in the back area of the Cafeteria in front of Hale 1
  8:00pm-12:00pm The BYUHSA Welcome Social will be held in the Seasider, Aloha Center Mall, and Game Center
SATURDAY, January 12, 08 8:00am-6:00pm
Circle Island Tour for new and returning Winter students will leave from the Cannon Activities. The Tour Buses will leave promptly at 8:00am. We will visit the Pali Scenic Point, Swap Meet, Wal-Mart, and Matsumoto Shave Ice in the old Haleiwa surfer town on the North Shore Purchase your Circle Island Tour tickets at the Aloha Center Front Desk for $3.50 by Friday, January 4 at 12noon.

Important Things for you to do upon your arrival on campus and when campus services are open:

  • Report to the Health Center to receive MMR and TB Clearance (hours 8:00am – 12noon, 2:00pm – 4:45pm; for more information call (808) 675-3510)
  • Receive Student Insurance Clearance at the Student Insurance office (located in the Lorenzo Snow Administration Building)
  • Get your Student Identification Card from Student Activities Office in the Aloha Center Mall – Room #131 (hours 9:00am – 4:00pm)
  • International students: Before you can register for your semester classes you must report with your Passport/I-20/I-94 to the International Office located in the Student Development Office (opposite the cafeteria entrance) as soon as you arrive on campus (hours 8:00am – 4:00pm)
  • Attend all Orientation Activities
  • New Student Spouses/Family are invited to attend all orientation activities

 

PARENT’S FORUM We are pleased to invite all parents of new students arriving at BYU Hawaii to attend a “Parents Forum” on Tuesday, January 8 from 10:00am – 11:30am in the McKay Little Theater to hear remarks by our University President, Dr. Steven Wheelwright, and then to a question and answer session with our President’s Council members. Refreshments will be provided at the conclusion
